Eric Peterson, MSc, MBA, is the Founder and Managing Director of Honua Resources LLC, a New York City-based geothermal energy development company focused on advancing geothermal opportunities from resource assessment to commercial development.
He holds an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business, a Master of Science in Geology from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Peterson brings more than 16 years of energy industry experience, including technical and leadership roles at BHP and Schlumberger. His expertise spans geoscience, geothermal resource assessment, prospect evaluation, regional geological mapping, subsurface modeling, and operational process improvement across international markets.
Combining deep technical expertise with graduate-level training in finance, strategy, and business leadership, Peterson focuses on translating subsurface resource potential into commercially viable energy projects. He is advancing Honua Resources’ geothermal development initiatives in Hawaiʻi and building partnerships across government, industry, and research institutions.
Peterson has presented his work on geothermal energy and development opportunities at institutions including the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and New York University.
