About Us
At Honua Resources, we are pioneering the future of clean energy through data-driven geothermal exploration. Our initial focus is on identifying, de-risking, and acquiring the most promising geothermal land assets by leveraging advanced subsurface data and geoscience expertise.
We see geothermal energy as a critical pillar of the global energy transition—a clean, reliable, and dispatchable baseload power source that supports electrification and long-term grid stability.
Massive Growth Potential
Despite its vast potential, the United States currently taps into less than 0.7% of its geothermal resources. Significant growth lies ahead—not only by expanding conventional geothermal capacity but also by advancing emerging technologies such as Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). We believe the most scalable EGS opportunities will come from Hot Sedimentary Aquifer (HSA) basins and repurposed oil and gas fields with existing infrastructure, where this innovative approach is still in its early stages.
Honua Resources is a startup Resource Exploration and Production (E&P) Company focused on green energy and beginning with baseload 24/7 geothermal. We seek to move the needle on optimizing heat and fluid flow, thus increasing energy production. We continuously improve by applying Data Analysis, Modeling, Simulations and Monitoring Tools as well as Engineering and Geoscience Best Practices, Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML), Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to the clean energy extraction process.
Blockchain throughout the resource delivery process ensures compliance and transparency between Honua and our vendors and customers. Blockchain allows a path towards Carbon Neutral Future.
Geoscience and Reservoir Engineering Data are integrated into Earth Models to improve resource extraction planning and development while mitigating risks. For geothermal this includes rock properties related to heat and fluid flow.
Prior to field implementation we can test, optimize and predict production and economics using reservoir simulations.
Seismicity and reservoir stability are important in hazard mitigation and optimizing geothermal injection and production. Using long-term microseismic monitoring will aid in this effort and help gain public assurance.
EGS (Enhanced Geothermal Systems) is a form of geothermal energy that involves drilling deep wells into hot rocks and fracturing them. This creates an artificial geothermal reservoir, which can be used to generate electricity through a geothermal power plant. EGS has the potential to greatly increase the availability of geothermal energy, as it can be applied in areas that do not have naturally occurring geothermal resources. At Honua Resources we intend to recycle/reuse existing well infrastructure in hot fractured formations that have been abandoned by the oil and gas industry and repurpose to geothermal saving millions of dollars on drilling and completions.
