At Honua Resources, we believe in the need to reduce CO2 emissions while also addressing the world’s growing energy demand.

Our business

Geothermal

 About Us
At Honua Resources, we are pioneering the future of clean energy through data-driven geothermal exploration. Our initial focus is on identifying, de-risking, and acquiring the most promising geothermal land assets by leveraging advanced subsurface data and geoscience expertise.

We see geothermal energy as a critical pillar of the global energy transition—a clean, reliable, and dispatchable baseload power source that supports electrification and long-term grid stability.

Massive Growth Potential
Despite its vast potential, the United States currently taps into less than 0.7% of its geothermal resources. Significant growth lies ahead—not only by expanding conventional geothermal capacity but also by advancing emerging technologies such as Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). We believe the most scalable EGS opportunities will come from Hot Sedimentary Aquifer (HSA) basins and repurposed oil and gas fields with existing infrastructure, where this innovative approach is still in its early stages.

A big data company

Data Drives Our Business Decisions

Honua Resources is a startup Resource Exploration and Production (E&P) Company focused on green energy and beginning with baseload 24/7 geothermal. We seek to move the needle on optimizing heat and fluid flow, thus increasing energy production.  We continuously improve by applying Data Analysis, Modeling, Simulations and Monitoring Tools as well as Engineering and Geoscience Best Practices, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to the clean energy extraction process.

Relationships

Honua Resources has established key relationships with Universities, US National Labs as well as with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and other government and industry players. These partnerships provide us with unique advantages that are not available to other market players. We can leverage these relationships to secure land access, intellectual property through joint ventures or licensing, power purchase agreements, and technical assurance.

Data Modeling

Geoscience and Reservoir Engineering Data are integrated into Earth Models to improve resource extraction planning and development while mitigating risks. For geothermal this includes rock properties related to heat and fluid flow.

Reservoir Simulations

Prior to field implementation we can test, optimize and predict production and economics using reservoir simulations.

Monitoring

Seismicity and reservoir stability are important in hazard mitigation and optimizing geothermal injection and production. Using long-term microseismic monitoring will aid in this effort and help gain public assurance.

Opportunities

Geothermal Power Exploration & Development - Hawaii

We have two opportunity locations in Hawaii for geothermal energy investment. The state faces some of the highest energy costs in the U.S. and has set an ambitious goal to achieve 100% clean energy by 2045. With a potential geothermal capacity of 1,500 MW, the islands' volcanic activity provides a significant, largely untapped resource for reliable, 24/7 baseload power. While geothermal currently makes up a small fraction of the energy mix, there is strong government and industry interest in expanding its use to meet these renewable energy targets. This is a strategic opening to address Hawaii's energy challenges by developing scalable geothermal projects that can reduce costs and enhance grid stability.

Geothermal Energy Storage - New York

We recently began working in Q3 2025 with Columbia University's CEN Network to look into geothermal energy storage solutions for New York State.
