We see Geothermal as a clean energy source of the future and a reliable and stable baseload fuel for electrification and energy transition.
Massive Growth Potential
The United States presently uses less than 0.7% of its geothermal energy resources. Future growth will come from enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). We feel the majority of that EGS growth will occur in hot sedimentary aquifer (HSA) basins with existing oil and gas field depleted reservoirs that have existing infrastructure and where the concept is still relatively new.
Honua Resources is a startup Resource Exploration and Production (E&P) Company focused on green energy and beginning with baseload 24/7 geothermal. We seek to move the needle on optimizing heat and fluid flow, thus increasing energy production. We continuously improve by applying Data Analysis, Modeling, Simulations and Monitoring Tools as well as Engineering and Geoscience Best Practices, Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML), Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to the clean energy extraction process.
Blockchain throughout the resource delivery process ensures compliance and transparency between Honua and our vendors and customers. Blockchain allows a path towards Carbon Neutral Future.
Geoscience and Reservoir Engineering Data are integrated into Earth Models to improve resource extraction planning and development while mitigating risks. For geothermal this includes rock properties related to heat and fluid flow.
Prior to field implementation we can test, optimize and predict production and economics using reservoir simulations.
Seismicity and reservoir stability are important in hazard mitigation and optimizing geothermal injection and production. Using long-term microseismic monitoring will aid in this effort and help gain public assurance.
EGS (Enhanced Geothermal Systems) is a form of geothermal energy that involves drilling deep wells into hot rocks and fracturing them. This creates an artificial geothermal reservoir, which can be used to generate electricity through a geothermal power plant. EGS has the potential to greatly increase the availability of geothermal energy, as it can be applied in areas that do not have naturally occurring geothermal resources. At Honua Resources we intend to recycle/reuse existing well infrastructure in hot fractured formations that have been abandoned by the oil and gas industry and repurpose to geothermal saving millions of dollars on drilling and completions.
